Welcome to Au Pairing in Scotland!

 

It's no surprise the birthplace of Harry Potter literature is in Scotland. You'll find the Scottish Isles are an atmospheric scene of mystery, history and a spot of magic, especially when the bagpipes are playing.

 

On your days off you can explore castle ruins dotted throughout the isles, Highland mountain scenery and, the windswept islands of the Outer Hebrides. For a spot of adventure search for the monster of Lochness and when you're famished dine on haggis in a quaint country village.

 

You will be captivated by historic Edinburgh with its backdrop of magnificent castle, city and cliff. One of Europe's cultural hubs,visit Edinburgh anytime but especially in autumn for its dazzling Festival season.

 

Have fun in Scotland Au Pairing fora family and caring for their bonny wee bairns! (now that's 'Scottish' lingo for hearty and healthy children)

 

WHAT IS AN AU PAIR?An au pair lives and works for a host family in the country of your choice. You help with childcare and housework for a certain number of hours each week (approximately 25-30) in exchange for room, board and a weekly allowance (see below for more information about Au Pairing in Scotland).

What will I get?

Your Au Pair host family will give you

  • 60-70 pounds a week for 25 hours a week (about NZ$150)
  • Many families make a contribution towards the airfares of au pairs who stay for 10-12 months.

What do I need to do?

Au Pairsneed to

  • Have sole charge childminding experience (no formal training is required). Thischildcare experiencedoes not include babysitting children when they are asleep. We require two childcare references.
  • Work for 25 hours a week plus up to 2 nights babysitting a week
  • Be prepared to stay 6-12 months
  • Be 19 to 24 years old

How long can I stay?

Families prefer their Au Pair to stay for at least 10 months.

How much will this cost?

Au Pairs need to pay for

  • Your return airfare to Scotland (the family might help with this)
  • Full medical and travel insurance
  • A registration fee of NZ$500
