WELKOM! Print

- Welcome to Au Pairing in the Netherlands!

When you are Au Pairing in the Netherlands you will find it one of Europe's most relaxed and socially tolerant countries. You may be hosted by a family in a cosmopolitan cityscape or nestled in the stunning countryside. It's a small country so you will have plenty of opportunity to discover a landscape dotted with iconic windmills, meandering canals, traditional villages (clogs galore!), fields of tulips, and no less than 20 national parks.

A staggering 60% of the population live below sea-level (gulp!) so it's no wonder The Delta Project (rising of the dikes) is one of the seven wonders of the modern world.

Famously flat the Netherlands is bicycle heaven with bike lanes zipping through countryside and city. Everyone owns a bike so you'll enjoy all that open-air exercise! It's normal to bike to work even for the Director of the company!

The city of Amsterdam is a must-see with world-class museums brimming with paintings by Vincent Van Gogh and the Dutch Masters like Rembrandt. You'll be surrounded by oodles more culture and history at every turn especially theelegantlyunique 17th century narrow merchant houses circling Amsterdam's distinctive rings of canals.

When you Au Pair for a dutch family you will find they are a pragmatic people with the philosophy 'live and let live'. There's a real sense of equality here with differences in income relatively small. You'll enjoy the Dutch way of saying 'hi' - it's a warm and hearty handshake.

Come and learn Dutch (and enjoy the best cheese in the world!) A staggering 70% of the population speak excellent English so it's an easy country for New Zealanders to Au Pair and feel very at home.
